The challenge to eliminate substance abuse and stabilize mental health issues can be further complicated by the criminal thinking patterns.  The application of the principles of good supervision ensures that resources are effectively utilized on those clients who need them most in order to achieve the desired outcomes.

Second Change Funds Services is an act aimed to:

Community Service

Partnership agreement with local Agencies and Educational Institutions.


Budget Management Seminar

The course is offered to clients in partnership with Citifinancial on the following topics:

  • How to open a checking account
  • Credit reports
  • How to establish and maintain good credit
  • How to correct credit problems
  • Identity theft

Employment Agencies

Employment Agencies such as One Stop Career Center Puerto Rico and Forjando un Nuevo Comienzo offer defendants the following services:

  • Testing and work skills evaluations
  • Job Readiness Training
  • Individual Career Counseling
  • Subsidized On-the-Job Training
  • Job Placement and Retention
  • Client Transportation and Expenses
  • Employee Tools, Equipment and licensure
  • Reentry Grant for HIV Clients

Job Readiness

Allows participants to learn the basic employability skills that are necessary for obtaining, keeping and doing well at a job.  These skills are:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Resume Building
  • Interviewing for a Job
  • Basic Education Skills

Training is based on group projects, dialogue, daily lessons, mock interviews and video recording. Clients learn how to effectively present themselves to employers and retain employment.


Re-Entry Program

Re-Entry ProgramThe Reentry Program in the District of Puerto Rico aims to assist participants in their transition from prison to their communities. In order to assist and support clients, U.S. Probation Officers may refer them to any of the following programs:
